These 7 Tips Could Help You To Take Care Of Your Dental Veneers

May 11, 2018 by Advanced Family Dentistry

Veneers repair your chipped, broken or affected tooth and lets you sport a beautiful smile, but, the dental layer can wear off if a proper care is not taken. Therefore, you must follow a few measures for its sustainability.

We have mentioned some of the tips which might help you to look after your dental veneers.

Don’t Bite on Anything Inedible or Hard:
Avoid chewing a pen cap, ice or using your teeth as a tool if you do not want your veneers to get chipped. Biting on anything hard can also cause damage to the dental layer.

Keep Your Mouth Clean:
Poor dental hygiene will do no good to your veneers. Thus, brush and floss twice a day to keep its quality intact.

Use a Toothbrush Which has Soft Bristles:
Toothbrushes which have soft and rounded bristles will not damage the surface of your veneers but a hard bristled toothbrush might.

Choose Your Toothpaste Wisely:
Some toothpaste could contain abrasive ingredients which can damage your veneers. So, ask your dentist before choosing your toothpaste.

Don’t Drink a Lot of Coffee or Anything Acidic:
The bonding composite which holds the veneers can get loose if you drink a lot of coffee, alcohol or aerated beverages. Therefore, it’s better to curb down on them.

Treat Bruxism:
Your dental veneers might not last for long  if you have a habit of grinding your teeth. Wearing a mouth guard could be of great help, however, consult a dentist before taking a decision.

Don’t Skip Dental Visits:
Visit your dentist whenever it is required. It will not only help you to keep the quality of your veneers intact, but would also let you maintain a good oral hygiene.
